Romney: “Jerusalem is Israel’s capitol”

Mitt Romney has no problem stating clearly where the capitol of Israel is: Jerusalem.  Unlike the Obama administration which has gone to great lengths to avoid stating the capitol of Israel of late, even when directly asked by reporters, Romney was quite clear.

In a thinly veiled jab at President Barack Obama’s administration, Romney said any public differences between the United States and Israel only embolden adversaries.  He also paid tribute to the 11 Israeli Olympic athletes who were murdered and to the 9 Israeli and American students killed 10 years ago at Hebrew University.  You can hear part of his Jerusalem speech here — I’ll try to find an embed of the whole thing, ah here it is below:

I was ready to send you a link about that but you surely did not miss Romney’s commitment to move the US embassy from Tel-Aviv to Jerusalem.

At least, contrary to the Democrats (!!!!), Romney is not shy about this issue.

Here is another good link on this matter. “Romney says Jerusalem is Israel’s capital, and vows to move embassy” at http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2012/07/29/romney-says-jerusalem-is-israels-capital-vows-to-move-embassy/?hpt=hp_c1

    I think Romney could use a better speech-writer !

USA won’t be able to move its embassy to Jerusalem simply because it is too heavy, being burdened by all the promises of some of the previous USA Presidents to move it to Jerusalem.
Even though there is a promise, somehow they find a reason not to move the Embassy, yet. I am sure Romney will follow the previous promising(sic) Presidents’ footsteps about this issue.

Not too sure about that Pirate. A good number of both Dems and Republicans in Congress have been trying to close the loophole that allows the President to sign, every six months, an executive order delaying it. There is an actual law Congress passed that says the embassy must be located in Jerusalem and Mormon congressmen have been at the front of the charge (even Harry Reid who is a Democrat).

By the way, did you know that we have a bunch of streets and parks named after a Mormon leader from the 1800s because, even before Herzl, he was pushing for there to be the re-establishment of the Jewish State here with Jerusalem at its center. (Or that most Mormons believe themselves descended from members of the ancient Israelite lost tribe of Ephraim?)

Pirate, good point (and love your metaphor). I hope that Romney will be different…and with his long time special relationship with Netanyahu and his philosophy regarding the ME, he may change that. We can have a sense of REAL hope and change with Romney.

I found the speech by Romney to be EXCELLENT! Thanks, Yael, for this excellent link that I had missed.

Mitt Romney is nothing less than a very strong, hard core friend of Israel and of the Jewish people and of the State of Israel. Who could say that among the Democrats with their statements and with their actions? Who?!!!

For the sake of the US and especially the American people and jobs and the economy in the US, Obama should go ASAP!! That is the reality today!!! Mitt Romney would do a worth President of the USA.
