Pat Caddell: Medias bias so severe it threatens future of democracy

Hat tip to Vlad Tepes and Tundra Tabloids

Pat Caddell is a former Democratic pollster and analyst. “I think we’re at the most dangerous time in our political history in terms of the balance of power in the role that the media plays in whether or not we maintain a free democracy.”

Historically, most newspapers had an agenda; they were not bias-free, so this is not new. What seems to be true is that those who have control of the news now are corrupt, pushing their own agenda even if it means lying, distorting, and omitting the facts that would give a truer picture of events and situations. When leaders boldly lie, if they are supported by the mainstream media, they are not confronted—and frankly, I have seen that happen among the Democrats and Republicans, as well as some of the prominent bloggers who I generally respect… but I do not respect the twisting of the truth to manipulate people, no matter who is doing it.
What is new is that some of the media sources such as MSNBC, CNN, the BBC are so completely untrustworthy—but so powerful in manipulating people. Worse than that, they promote hatred and rejection of people, ideas and entire countries. When politiical leaders such as Debbie Wasserman-Schulz was caught blatantly lying, CNN buried the story. Imagine if Sarah Palin had done that !!! The mainstream media, most particularly CNN, has manufactured the story about Romney’s tax rate, while ignoring Harry Reid’s assertion that Romney didn’t pay any taxes for ten years… CNN is one of the worst offenders of lying among the mainstream media sources in the US. I didn’t think that any source could be worse than the BBC… but I was wrong. The US media is horrible.

Lynne, I’d like to understand something.
The following assertions don’t add up:
    1. CNN is pro-Obama.
    2. CNN manufactured the story about Romney’s unfairly low tax rate.
    3. CNN ignored Harry Reid’s assertion that Romney paid no taxes at all for 10 years.

Pirate, glad to explain. CNN has had almost no news articles about the Benghazi attack and absolutely none with any questions—none—about Obama’s “version of events” or about his missing Intel security meetings and none about his lack of attention to the possibility that US facilities could be attacked on the anniversary of 9/11 in retaliation for the assassination of bin Laden. To put it succinctly, nothing that could reflect negatively on Obama.

On the Friday after the attack, Obama went off campaigning in Las Vegas, but what CNN and the mainstream media focused on was that Romney was “inappropriate” to comment at all on the Benghazi attack. There have been no articles questioning the Obama version at any time, no information about the Obama assertion that there was “no warning”. The embassy had been attacked five times in the previous three months beginning in June, and the attacks in the area were so bad that the UK closed their embassy there. No mention on any of this on MSNBC or CNN, though CBS did have at least two articles about this, questioning the Obama version.

CNN has at no time questioned anything related to Obama, but relentlessly and shamefully promotes Obama, burying any facts that don’t make him look so good. During this time and before, CNN kept pounding with the Romney tax story, featuring “opinions’ about Romney that were not favorable. Never a single question about Harry Reid’s wild claim that he “knew from a reliable source at Bain that Romney had not paid any taxes in ten years”, and not a peep after he was proved wrong.

Pirate, that looks like bias to me! CNN is really worse than the BBC, and I swear that I didn’t think that possible. CNN is no more than propaganda for the Liberal Left and Obama. I used to consider myself Liberal and strongly left-leaning, but no more. These people are such liars that it scares me.

One interesting thing about my neighborhood: It was a sea of Obama signs in 2008, with nearly every single house featuring an Obama sign. My neighborhood would almost to the household declare themselves Liberal….but there is not one sign for Obama out. NONE! Not a single Obama sign. So I hope that no signs is a good sign that Romney will be elected.

Lynne, thanks for clarifying things. I missed an inversion somewhere.

        Assertion 3 should have read:
CNN ignored the refutation of Harry Reid’s assertion that Romney paid no taxes at all for 10 years.

With this corrected assertion, everything adds up.

What planet do you live on Pirate as it is clearly not earth. Actually, I know Pirate and I know he really isn’t stupid. I don’t know what his motive is in trying to play stupid or look stupid.

It feels to me like the planet is going nuts.
      1. I got into an argument with a Facebook friend, who opposes Bibi Netanyahu.
According to statements made by him, he prefers anarchy and rule of the might over continued rule by Bibi Netanyahu. He is not alone. Several Tent Protesters seem to have similar attitude toward the government.
      2. Yesterday evening I watched a DVD of Monty Python – The Meaning of Life.
Previous time I saw the movie, I fully enjoyed it. Yesterday somehow it was extremely soporific. Their sophisticated jokes somehow lost touch with my funny nerves.
      3. Tshuva is giving 73% haircut, even though in few years he’ll make lots of money from the gas fields in the Mediterranean Sea.
      4. In the coming Passover, as in the last one, it’ll be impossible to buy non-kosher goods because their codes will be blocked in the cash registers.
