FBI hunting large sleeper cell connected to Boston bombers

The Mirror News reports:

The FBI was last night hunting a 12-strong terrorist “sleeper cell” linked to the Boston marathon bomb brothers.

Police believe Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev were specially trained to carry out the devastating attack.

More than 1,000 FBI operatives were last night working to track down the cell and arrested a man and two women 60 miles from Boston in the hours before Dzhokhar’s dramatic capture after a bloody shootout on Friday.

A source close to the investigation said: “We have no doubt the brothers were not acting alone. The devices used to detonate the two bombs were highly sophisticated and not the kind of thing people learn from Google.

“They were too advanced. Someone gave the brothers the skills and it is now our job to find out just who they were. Agents think the sleeper cell has up to a dozen members and has been waiting several years for their day to come.”

Two friends of thhe bombers were arrested on immigration violations yesterday — but maybe for other reasons, as well –and it is unclear if these two are the ones mentioned in the Mirror article. One of the friends owned a car with vanity plates on it: “Terrorista #1.” Both of those arrested are Muslim. They were originally taken in for questioning on Friday, along with a female, then released and re-arrested the following morning.

On that Saudi National who was injured in the bombing, questioned, and had his apartment searched, and was going to be deported and then isn’t being deported: Walid Shoebat has an article up showing that he comes from a family with literally a dozen family members convicted of terrorism and active membership in Al Qaeda. Check Shoebat’s website, as he has a number of other articles on this Saudi National who had his scheduled deportation canceled and got a personal visit in the hospital from Michelle Obama.

Completely bizarre, with people like the mayor of Boston and others saying that the brothers acted completely alone and other nonsense, including statements that the Boston police force “found the bomber hiding in a boat through advanced technology”. No. A neighbor found him after the Boston police prematurely announced an all clear and told residents to resume normal activities. That alone could have led to more tragedy. Apparently, a helicopter was called in to scan the boat, but honestly….with the tarp cut and blood visible on the boat and around it, was that necessary? People should be more nervous than ever after seeing how the FBI, the local cops, the DHS, and elected officials handled this entire horrible case. Had the FBI done their job, there would not have been this tragedy.
And, what is this about this Saudi national? The media has, of course, dropped that story.
The Boston police says that they are withholding one photo of the bombers placing the bomb, and Jake Tapper, one of the few honest and reliable reporters in the US, said that the reasons did not entirely make sense to him. The media—just garbage for the most part.

I was wondering at the time if the all clear was a way to lure the second bomber out of hiding. I also wonder if some of the confusing statements are meant to throw off anyone else who might be involved or planning other terror attacks. Just a thought.

Apparently not, or if so, this would have been irresponsible. Imagine telling residents that the search turned up nothing and having people go about their regular routine (as they began to do) with their guard down. It appears that the bomber was slightly injured before the police opened fire on the boat and he was likely capable of overpowering people in their own homes later. It is not clear but he was perhaps more seriously injured when the Boston police opened fire on that boat (when he did not respond to the order to come out—I don’t think that is good police work, is it?). We don’t know how injured he was and the cops don’t either, didn’t even know that he was there. It could hve been so much worse with more victims.
The Boston police force is getting credit that I don’t believe that they deserve. When people tried to tell them that the bombers robbed the convenience store, the cops discounted it, and later the man who was kidnapped by them, had to insist over and over that the bombers were the ones who took his car…they were apparently not easily persuaded…
But it is the FBI that deserves the harshest criticism. They were warned by Russia to watch the older brother and asked to report back. They told the FBI that he was making terrorist contacts within Russia—and then the bomber travels to Russia for months, and the FBI does not follow up on him when he returns, though the area that he traveled to is known as a hot bed or terrorist training. Some of the news media is covering this, but there are government spokespersons already making excuses for this botched mess. CNN’s Jake Tapper said that if he was family of the victims, he would be mad. He looked as if he is angry anyway, and so am I. These rotten government bureaucracies are not effective, and they are not accountable to anyone. BTW, CNN has new leadership and there is now a great improvement in reporting. I don’t want any bias to my news—not to my views or anyone else’s views, and CNN is striking a good balance with professional reporters such as the very professional Jake Tapper.

I just don’t get it. Why don’t Americans get it? Regardless of whether you are a regular joe, someone in law enforcement, or the president, we cannot continue to think that these kinds of tragedies won’t happen. Maybe I have just learned too much from researching life in Israel, reading about Palestinian-Israeli politics, following this blog and reading JPost daily. I get that people don’t want terrorism to rule their lives, but this doesn’t mean to stick your head in the sand and continue putting yourself in precarious situations when there are ways to make things safer. Yesterday I asked a friend of mine what extra security measure were taken at a 10 miler in NC she and her husband attended. Aside from a K-9 bomb dog team, she didn’t see any additional security. No backpacks were checked, people still had multiple ways to access the course, trashcans were still numerous and planted along the course and at the start/finish lines. I don’t even know what to say about the fact that Russia warned the FBI about this dude and still he got under the radar. I shouldn’t be shocked, I know, but I guess hope springs eternal. All I know is that moments like this make making aliyah sound better and better.

Erin, I think that the first thing we should keep in our minds is that we better make decisions for our own safety and not trust that the DHS, or local police, or the FBI or CIA are necessarily doing their jobs properly. I think Yaeli posted a comment on what precautions should have been taken for the Boston Marathon (closing side streets and posting a guard at the streets that were allowed for crossing, having guards use a wand to detect metal and explosives, limiting packages and backpacks (these were strewn all over the place so the bomb did not look out of place)…and people were so relaxed that they did not notice when the terrorists put the backpacks down and let them. There should have been these measures and more, as well as safety reminders before and during the race. As to the FBI, I’d like to hear their excuse. One expert said on CNN, I think, that it is so seldom that Russia asks the FBI to monitor someone or to check them out, that alone should have been a red flag. His travels to a hot bed of terrorist activity (for months), another red flag…how many red flags did the stupid FBI need to take action or monitor. They were absolute clueless when the photos of the bombers were shown. These guys were not even on their radar. I’m fairly sick of all the back patting going on among the FBI and the Boston police because they were hardly professional. They owe the identification of the bombers and their capture to the public not their own expertise. Their failures cost four people their lives and allowed the bombers to injure many more. I’m sick of being PC, too.

Glenn Beck is saying that if the Obama Administration does not come forward with the truth about the Saudi national who was detained, he will reveal what he has found out—whatever that is. The news organizations are already questioning —and members of Congress, too, why the Saudi national was to be deported, then the orders changed, and then a flat denial of there being a change…two meetings with members of the Saudi government were reported by the media (not by Beck). So what on earth is going on? Is this guy involved?

so this is what just came up on my facebook news alerts…

If they believed this enough to publish it, we are in deep trouble.

Erin, I agree we are in really deep trouble. Bruce Thornton writing over at RealClearPolitics hits the nail on the head Illusions About Why Muslim Brothers Kill. And the fact that Amina Ismail, a journalist at McClatchy, actually had the gall to ask White House Press Secretary Jay Carney if U.S. bombings that kill innocent civilians in Afghanistan constitute an “act of terror” given the labeling of the Boston Marathon bombing as “terrorism”. I mean, seriously. She is actually equating attacks that take place in a war and that accidentally kill civilians with the Boston bombings.

  6. SirJohn says :

The narrative has been ordered, it won’t be changed any more: The two acted alone. Period. The many signs that this is not true will have to be forgotten immediately.

It is completely unacceptable to the White House to connect any terrorist ties to Saudi Arabia. We all know that from this country only peace and benevolence emanate. BHO even bowed to her king. So, you must trust Saudi Arabia. This is an order! Anyone not doing that will be beheaded!
