Even as a Hamas shill, John Kerry is an embarrassment
You know it is bad when Israel’s small left-leaning newspaper (read mostly by people not living in Israel) Ha’aretz slams Kerry as an embarrassment and all but calls him a Hamasnik.
The draft Kerry passed to Israel on Friday shocked the cabinet ministers not only because it was the opposite of what Kerry told them less than 24 hours earlier, but mostly because it might as well have been penned by Khaled Meshal. It was everything Hamas could have hoped for.
The document recognized Hamas’ position in the Gaza Strip, promised the organization billions in donation funds and demanded no dismantling of rockets, tunnels or other heavy weaponry at Hamas’ disposal. The document placed Israel and Hamas on the same level, as if the first is not a primary U.S. ally and as if the second isn’t a terror group which overtook part of the Palestinian Authority in a military coup and fired thousands of rockets at Israel.
Pretty terrifying when the US Secretary of State basically presents Hamas’ position as that of the US. Israel is alone. Do what you have to do, and damn world opinion.
Absolutely, and are you THE Rob who commented so wonderfully on the Good Neighbours site? If so, big hug and missed you!!
Yes, that’s me. I’ve been lurking but not commenting.
Rob, glad to see you here!!!
Rob, it is terrifying to see Obama align with the Islamists across the world. Scary.
“Billions in donation funds…” Guess whose money Kerry is promising… As a taxpayer I am hopping mad
Sir John, I agree. It will never go to improve the lives of the people in Gaza. Never. It will enable the Hamas leadership to continue to amass a fortune and to live lives of luxury. It will buy more destruction for the people in Gaza and the Israelis.
hmm can i have a link to the Good neighbours site
Toadh
I used to surf the Shalom\ Salaam community forums but it seems to have dissipated
XSouthAfricanGal, the Good Neighbors site is no longer active, unfortunately. It was an excellent forum with people from all over the world commenting and sharing concerns, ideas, and of course, even arguing but with the idea of preserving relationships and finding common ground. Some of those who posted were in countries that have experienced civil war and total chaos in the past few years. I think of them often and worry.
For your interest, TODA.
I used to be active in the shalom \salam site which seems to have disappeared I’m looking for an alternative and Nadda .. zilch and zero
It would be wonderful to have a forum again, like Good Neighbors, and one without bias to any particular view, that encouraged honest and open dialogue and fact-based comments. We need one, but unfortunately, no matter how well-informed and well-intentioned those who participate are, they have very little influence overall. In some cases, trying to influence others is dangerous, deadly dangerous, in places where there is intolerance and bias. Perhaps if the site could influence the media to have a balanced view, that would be very powerful. As it is, the media is a huge part of the problem, fanning flames, biased reporting—a disservice to all people.
Xsag — there were a bunch of them that were active until about 2009-2010 even with just a few active folks. When we lost funding with GN we lost our host and were in talks with Esraa from Bahrain about combining our pro-peace/tolerance sites but the most active Lebanese on their site and ours left Lebanon and Palestinians on both sites got fed up with internal PA corruption and left for France, UK, US, Canada and Jordan, and essentially both our sites went under before we could combine.
That’s a crying shame – I did wonder what had happened to GN.
